Teen Nutrition and Growth
The teenage years bring rapid growth, hormonal changes, changing appetites and increased nutritional requirements, (all while teenagers are also beginning to make more of their own food choices)!
Nutrition can help support healthy growth and development, energy, concentration, sports performance and recovery, menstrual health and overall wellbeing.
Support may also be helpful for teenagers who skip meals, have a limited diet, experience low energy, are concerned about their body or weight, or may not be meeting their nutritional needs.
The focus is on helping teens understand how to nourish their growing body and develop a positive, sustainable relationship with food, rather than restrictive dieting.
Support includes:
Iron and nutrient support (especially for teen girls)
Hormonal health and cycle support
Nutrition for sport, recovery and energy
Building independence with healthy food choices
Nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, iron and protein are critical for bone health, energy and development during adolescence
